Perfection Who? How to Find Your Flow

I am so genuinely excited that you’re here.

Creating this space has been a dream of mine for months—maybe even years—and now it’s real.

Soul Current Studio is my little corner of the world where we can slow down, breathe, and explore what it truly means to live aligned, awake, and unapologetically ourselves.

This newsletter isn’t just about tips or tools (though there will be plenty!). It’s about connectionthe kind that reminds you that you are seen, worthy, and capable of moving through life with intention and magic. Every week, I’ll be sharing reflections, practical tips, mindset shifts, and a sprinkle of the mystical and magical, with the hope that it inspires you to pause, reset, and reconnect to your own inner current.

I want this to feel like sitting across from a friend—sharing stories, laughter, guidance, and maybe a little cosmic mischief. Whether it’s through a simple breath exercise, a reflection prompt, or a spark of inspiration, my goal is for you to leave each issue feeling lighter, brighter, and more aligned with your soul.

So, light a candle, pour yourself a cup of whatever fuels your magic, and let’s dive in together. 🌙✨ Here’s to curiosity, growth, and embracing all the beautiful layers of who you are.

With love and light,
Tamara

Perfection isn’t the goal - growth is.

THE CHALLENGE:

As I sat down to write the first volume of my newsletter, my mind was racing with thoughts. My body was having a physical reaction to doing something new and honestly, scary. I am so excited about starting my newsletter, but I just want it to be perfect! I had a tightness in my chest and I literally broke out in an itchy rash. Yikes. I found myself sitting in front of my computer staring at a blank page waiting for an idea to magically come to my mind and for my fingers to start typing.

Luckily, over the years through personal experience and professional training, I have developed a set of skills in my toolbox to deal with all kinds of life challenges, mental blocks, and anxiety.

I have learned, that the fear of failure often drives overthinking. The more we anticipate failure, the more we mentally rehearse every negative outcome.

I had a textbook case of analysis paralysis.

What I did next determined if you would be reading this newsletter today.

THE SOLUTION:

I took a break—stepped away from my desk and did a meditation to breathe into the emotions, and release the impossible expectations I have for myself.

Using meditation and breathwork I was able to calm my nervous system and tap into my subconscious mind.

I shifted from fight-or-flight mode to peace of mind. This is a result of years of devotion to my spiritual practice.

Here’s exactly what I did—and why it worked:

I stepped outside and grounded by standing barefoot in the grass, stretching, and moving my body. This simple practice helped release physical tension and calm my nervous system. Grounding connects you to the earth’s natural energy, lowering stress hormones and bringing your mind into the present moment.

Next, I lit some Palo Santo and set an intention: peace of mind and acceptance. The ritual of scent and smoke helped me clear the mental clutter, and the act of setting an intention shifted my focus from “I need to be perfect” to “I’m learning and growing.” Intention setting actually trains your brain to create new thought patterns.

Then, I opened my meditation app and chose a 10-minute guided breathwork and meditation. Breathwork slowed my heart rate, relaxed my body, and moved me out of fight-or-flight mode. Meditation quieted the noise in my head and strengthened my ability to focus on what actually mattered.

During the meditation, I realized that so many of the thoughts spinning through my head were completely unrealistic. It was just my ego trying to talk me out of something that could truly benefit me and my business. I’ve experienced this before, and when I become aware of my thought patterns, i remember that my ego is trying to protect me by finding the line of least resistance. But I know that true growth, is on the other side of fear. Once I saw that clearly, the perfectionism lost its power.

In just a few minutes, I went from stressed and stuck to grounded and calm—ready to take aligned action.

💭 By slowing down our thought processes, we give ourselves the opportunity to challenge assumptions, consider alternative perspectives, and make more informed choices.

According to Daniel Kahneman, Nobel Prize-winning psychologist, we often think we're better at making decisions than we actually are.

In "Thinking, Fast and Slow," he describes our thinking as two systems (fast and slow) and warns against automatically trusting our first thoughts.

System 1 & System 2 Thinking

  • System 1 – Fast & Intuitive: Works automatically and quickly. Think of reading signs, doing familiar tasks, or having an easy conversation.

  • System 2 – Slow & Analytical: Works deliberately and takes effort. Think tough decisions or complex calculations.

  • How They Work Together: We use both to navigate life, but rely on System 1 more, which can sometimes lead to mistakes or biases.

Overanalyzing every option leads to inaction. System 2 (slow, deliberate thinking) can get stuck in loops if not balanced with intuition (System 1).

REAL LIFE APPLICATION:

You may be thinking - that’s great Tamara, but how do I incorporate wellness into my busy schedule? I’m so glad you asked—I’ll break it down in 3 simple steps for you to follow.

  • Schedule it like a meeting—non-negotiable.

  • Use micro-habits: 5–10 minute rituals.

  • Combine with existing routines (e.g., podcasts while commuting).

Remember—progress, not perfection, is what moves you forward.

💫 How Coaching Can Help You Shift Too

What I shared with you today is just a glimpse of the tools I use in my own life. In my 1:1 coaching, I teach you how to apply these same methods so you can:

  • Quiet the overthinking and release perfectionism.

  • Learn grounding and breathwork practices that calm your nervous system.

  • Reframe fear of failure so you feel confident taking aligned action.

  • Build rituals that keep you centered, even on your busiest days.

The truth is, you don’t have to stay stuck in the spiral of “what ifs.” With the right support and strategies, you can step into clarity, peace, and momentum — and I’d love to guide you there.
