Stillness + Motion: Finding balance this fall

Hey beautiful soul,

Before we dive in, take a mindful pause: place your hand over your heart, close your eyes, and whisper a soft “thank you” for waking up today. Gratitude is the first movement of the soul — a gentle reminder that you’re alive, present, and part of this moment.

As autumn arrives, nature shows us her wisdom. Leaves release, the air cools, and the earth slows down. This season invites us to mirror that rhythm: to let go of what’s heavy, to slow our pace, and to ground ourselves in rituals that nourish body, mind, and soul.

When I Forget to Move…

I’ll admit — when I spend too much time at my desk and forget to stretch or move, I notice it right away. Creativity feels blocked, my energy dips, and even my mood shifts. Movement always brings me back. It clears the fog, unlocks creativity, and reminds me: the body is the gateway to flow. You don’t need a long workout to feel the benefits — even 20 minutes a day can shift everything.

🌿Science + Spirit of Movement

When we move, we do far more than “burn calories.” Movement is medicine because it supports every layer of our being:

  • Body: Prevents stiffness, strengthens bones and joints, improves circulation, and balances hormones.

  • Mind: Increases serotonin + dopamine (your feel-good chemicals), reduces anxiety, and clears brain fog.

  • Soul: Shakes loose stored emotions, unblocks stagnant energy, and restores your natural flow.

And when we don’t move, the effects build over time:

  • Stored emotions + trauma stay locked in the fascia and nervous system, leaving us feeling heavy or disconnected.

    1. Hormones drift out of balance, increasing stress hormones like cortisol while lowering the feel-good ones — affecting mood, sleep, and energy.

    2. Creativity + focus decline because the brain thrives on oxygen and circulation that movement provides.

    3. Energy stagnates, leaving us feeling restless yet unmotivated — caught in a loop of “I should move, but I don’t have the energy.”

⏳ The Magic of 20 Minutes

Here’s the good news: it doesn’t take hours. Just 20 minutes of daily movement can:

  • Reduce stress + regulate the nervous system

  • Improve digestion and metabolism

  • Boost creativity, focus, and productivity

  • Support hormone balance (especially for women navigating cycles, stress, or fatigue)

  • Create space for emotions to release instead of being stored in the body

  • Build self-trust by keeping a promise to yourself

Movement is presence, not performance. A walk in the crisp fall air, a stretch, a yoga flow, or dancing in your kitchen — it all counts.

🚫 Excuses We Make vs. The Deeper Truth

We all have resistance. Here are a few common ones… and the truth behind them:

“I don’t have time today.” → You haven’t prioritized yourself yet.

Reframe: 20 minutes creates more energy for everything else.

“I’m too tired.” → Your energy is stuck.

Reframe: Gentle movement restores energy — it doesn’t deplete it.

“I’ll start tomorrow.” → You don’t believe your body deserves care today.

Reframe: The best time is now — even 5 minutes counts.

“I’m not motivated.” → You’re waiting for permission.

Reframe: Motivation comes after movement — start small.

🌙 Ritualize Your Movement

Think of it as non-negotiable me time — the way you’d never skip brushing your teeth.

  • Pick a time you can keep consistently

  • Create ritual cues: light a candle, play music, roll out your mat

  • Keep it simple: one walk, one pose, one song — that’s enough

  • Affirm it: whisper “This is my time. My body deserves this.”

This month, I’m honored to feature Zoe, the Yoga Fairy 🧚‍♀️in our first Soul Spotlight.

🌗 The Dance Between Stillness & Motion

There are moments we’re called into stillness — to pause, to breathe, to listen. Stillness is where integration happens, where clarity forms, where we simply be.

And there are moments we’re called into motion. Movement shakes us awake, frees energy we’ve been holding, and reminds us that flow is our natural state.

Too much stillness, and energy stagnates. Too much motion, and we forget to listen. But together, they create harmony — the yin and yang of being human.

Movement and stillness are not opposites. They are dance partners. Both are medicine. Both are sacred.

💫 Mantra for the Week:

“I honor the dance of stillness and motion. Both are medicine. Both are sacred.”

📩 Your Invitation

🌸 Play as Medicine

Movement isn’t only exercise — it’s also play. When we play, we invite the inner child back to the surface, reminding ourselves it’s safe to feel joy, curiosity, and freedom.

As adults, we often forget that laughter, silly dancing, skipping, or rolling on the floor are powerful healing tools. They release stuck emotions, regulate our nervous system, and bring us back to a state of presence.

💫 Practice to Try: Next time you move, let it be playful — jump, sway, spin, or dance with no agenda. Notice how your body feels when you give it permission to be both strong and silly.

That’s all for this week, Beautiful Soul ✨
